What would you pay for Google or Wikipedia?

Net Benefits, by The Economist

Interesting article. What would you value your most treasured Internet services at? If you had to, what would you pay Google, Wikipedia, Twitter or Facebook a month? One of the most important takeaways from this article is that the total value that the Internet provides to us is huge. These ad-supported services aren’t just “free”, they give a lot to us as well. I also disagree with the notion that Twitter is distracting us. I’m sure that for many, Twitter is considered a waste of time. For myself, that’s probably true some days. However, the value that Twitter offers is unmatched by the other social networks right now, even though I also use them regularly.Twitter is where I discover news, track events, and find out what many people I admire are doing at the moment. It is extremely difficult to quantify how much it’d be worth, but I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that.
